Matt joined PFM in 2012 after spending six years at Pella Corporation in manufacturing and supply chain management and then two years teaching at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He is a Director in the Des Moines office, serving municipal clients ranging in size and complexity from small local governments to large state departments and regional water/wastewater authorities. Matt is known for his outstanding customer service and his ability to anticipate client needs and deliver meaningful solutions.
Matt is well versed in all types of debt structures including fixed rate, variable rate, VRDO, FRN, lease purchase, annual appropriation, general obligation and revenue bonds. He has managed the issuance process using competitive public sales, negotiated public sales and direct private placements.
A sample of Matt’s current and past clients include: Missouri Department of Transportation, Kansas Department of Transportation, Central Iowa Water Works, Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority ("WRA"), EJ Water Inc., Iowa Lakes Regional Water, Tabernash Meadows Water and Sanitation District (CO) and West Des Moines Water Works; Iowa Cities including Des Moines, Davenport, Clive, Elkhart, Grimes, Johnston, Monroe, Odebolt, Prairie City, Van Meter, Waukee; and Iowa School Districts including Ankeny CSD, Des Moines Independent Schools, North Scott CSD, and Waukee CSD. Matt also serves as a content expert for other PFM offices related to rate and revenue sufficiency studies and has worked on PFM engagements in Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Matt earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute in 2017.
