PFM Announces Appointment of Lynn Evans and Art Torres as Independent Directors

PFM, the nation’s leading independent financial advisor in terms of transactions and par amount, today announced the appointment of Lynn Evans and Art Torres as independent directors on its Board.1

PFM CEO Daniel Hartman said that both Evans and Torres “reflect PFM’s values -- – a commitment to and track record of working in the public interest, a commitment to integrity, a focus on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as well as a history of business leadership.”

Lynn Evans is the founder and owner of V. Lynn Evans, CPA, an accounting and consulting firm established in 1983. In that role, she has worked closely with PFM on a range of consulting and financial advisory projects since 2012.

From its inception in 1998 and until its sale in 2019, Ms. Evans was an organizer and director of First Alliance Bank, a Memphis-based community bank.  From 2004 to 2013, she served on the Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW) board of commissioners.  Ms. Evans chaired the MLGW board and its pension board (2008-2009) and also chaired the Audit and Supplier Diversity committees during her tenure.

In 2012, she was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the US Senate in 2013 to serve as a member of the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors.  From 2014 to 2017, she chaired the board’s Audit, Risk, and Regulation Committee and served as the board’s designated financial expert for SEC reporting purposes.

In 2017, Ms. Evans became the first woman and the first African American to chair the TVA Board.

Senator Art Torres served the people of California as a member of the Legislature for twenty years after beginning his career working with Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta in his role as Legislative Director of the United Farm Workers.

Sen. Torres is the Vice Chair of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, the state’s stem cell agency that has provided more than $2.7 billion in research funds to find cures for incurable diseases: the voters of California in 2020 approved an additional $5.5 billion in spending authority for research to the agency.  In 2020, he was elected to become the UC Regent Designate and then Regent and President of the UC Alumni Association.  He is one of five members of the board of Covered California which oversees Obamacare in California and was appointed to a second four-year term in 2020, by the California State Senate.

Previously, Sen. Torres served for four years as a member and President of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and as a member of the board of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. He also served as the President of a foundation dedicated to increasing diversity in the cable television industry.  As an LGBTQ leader, Sen. Torres has helped raise research funds and awareness for HIV AIDS and LGBTQ civil rights.

Evans and Torres join a PFM Board of Directors that includes Hartman and June Matte, Sergio Masvidal, Brett Matteo and Bethany Pugh —all managing directors with the firm.
